Meet the Society Members

Mrs. Anita is a devout, resilient and persevering person who has dedicated her retired life to the service and care of the residents of Karunalaya. Despite having her children well settled abroad, instead of living with them, she has chosen a life of sacrifice and service to the residents of the Home. She lives in the Home with the residents and looks after them. We admire her for her selfless love and care she shows for the residents of the Home. May God bless her.

Fr. Victor is presently the Director of the Belgaum Diocesan Pastoral Centre at Dharwad. He takes immense personal interest in the residents and in the smooth daily running of the Home. He makes himself available at any time if any assistance is required. He generally oversees to the accounts auditing and any correspondence and communication that is required by the Society.

Ms. Mariamma is currently a Teacher in St. Paul's High School, Belgaum. Despite her professional and personal commitments, Ms. Mariamma always makes herself available for the Home, especially during times when Mrs. Anita Rodricks is out of town and unable to be at the Home. Ms. Mariamma is especially helpful in making the residents feel at Home by conversing with them in their own native languages.

Mr. Albert Naidu is a retired bank employee of Canara Bank. He oversees the general accounting of the Society and helps us with all our banking needs. He helps with the donor record-keeping, receipt issuance, income tax matters and society registration.

Mrs. Janet is a retired Teacher of St. Paul's High School, Belgaum. She has been a staunch supporter and generous donor from the early beginnings of Karunalaya. She helps with the stitching of clothes that may be required for the residents. Even though she lives quite a distance from the Home and does not have her own conveyance, she makes every effort to visit and help at the Home frequently. Whenever residents are sick, she is by their side night & day attending and caring for them, and hence, loved so much by the residents. Her daughter, Dr. Belinda Viegas-Mueller, a well known psychiatrist in Goa, often visits and counsels the residents.

Dr. Nitin is a retired professional from the UK and now settled in Belgaum. He is a charismatic and passionate individual who takes keen interest in the Home and never hesitates to talk to his acquaintances about the Home. He is a passionate environmentalist at heart and we appreciate all the advice he gives us on opportunities for improvement for the Home. He is a valuable asset to our Home.

Mr. Moogi is currently one of Belgaum's leading Structural Engineers and Architect. He has single-handedly designed and supervised construction of all phases of Karunalaya. He is ever-willing and ready to advise us in his technical capacity at any time. His wife, Shoba, also takes active interest in the Home.

Dr. Ashok is a General Physician by profession and a selfless dedicated social worker. He offers his honorary services to numerous poor patients in the vicinity of his home, relieving them of their pain and suffering. He is readily available to us at all times for his medical advice and performs regular check-ups on the residents.

Mr. Joe has worked in Muscat, Oman for a very long time and is now retired. He is the eldest brother of Mrs. Anita Rodricks. He is a great organizer, very knowledgeable, and often gives helpful advice to Mrs. Anita on numerous matters for the Home. He and his wife, Thelma, visit the Home regularly.

Mr. Vilas is currently a life insurance agent. He has a keen interest in garden landscaping and brings plants from various places for the Home. If at any time help is required for the home, Mr. Vilas has always been there for us.

Fr. Cyril is presently the Director of an Orphanage in the nearby village of Navage. He is a faithful supporter of the Home and is instrumental in arranging monthly food provisions for the Home. We are so very grateful to Fr. Cyril.

Mr. Gracian, a humble businessman from Goa, is a cousin of Mrs. Anita Rodricks. A soft-spoken individual by nature, he is a staunch supporter and generous donor of the Home. He is an excellent counselor and helps by counseling residents at the Home.

Fr. Gabriel is presently the Parish Priest of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Hidkal. He has helped construct a magnificent Church in Bagalkot that is now visited by many tourists all year-round.

Fr. Femiot is presently the Parish Priest of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dharwad. He is a very talented priest and visits the Home regularly.

Ms. Jeanne is currently working in the UK and is a cousin of Mrs. Anita Rodricks. She is instrumental in raising funds for the Home by collecting funds from her family, friends & colleagues in the UK. She even takes part in running race events in the UK to collect funds for the Home. We are very grateful to her.

Mr. Percy is presently working in Toronto, Canada and is the brother of Mrs. Anita Rodricks. A very prayerful person by nature and generous donor to the Home, he advises the Home on all financial matters.

Mr. Tony is working in Muscat, Oman and is the youngest brother of Mrs. Anita Rodricks. He whole-heartedly supports the Home and enjoys staying at the Home and interacting with the residents when he is on vacation.

Mr. Maurice is the Principal of Sacred Heart High School, Kurseong in Darjeeling and is the brother-in-law of Mrs. Anita Rodricks. He and his wife, Mary, are an immense support to the Home by arranging hard-working, dedicated, ever-smiling and ever-willing staff for the Home.

Mr. Conrad is well established in San Jose, California, USA and is the eldest child of Mrs. Anita Rodricks. He along with his wife, Vina, and two sisters, Melani & Natasha, continue to support the Home financially and through numerous other ways.

Mr. George is a retired employee of Hindalco and a devoted social worker. He helps around the local Church and a strong supporter of the Home. He assists with his technical expertise whenever needed.
